A Challenging Federal Case

Dan Wilson, a District Court Judge in Kalispell now serving his second term, will be our speaker on July 23. 

Dan traces his Montana roots back to 1913 when his great grandfather homesteaded south of Malta, where both of his parents grew up and where his grandfather served as Justice of the Peace. Dan met and married his wife, Tia, in Kalispell when Dan was working as a prosecutor in the County Attorney’s Office. His wife, who is also an attorney, now works as Chief Administrative Officer at the Flathead Electric Cooperative. They have been married for 29 years and have one daughter who completed an undergraduate degree in business at the University of Montana in 2024 and a Master’s degree in marketing at Vanderbilt University in 2025. She is now employed at the University of Montana.

Dan began his career as a prosecutor in 1993, first in Great Falls and then in Chinook and Kalispell before entering a general law practice in 1999 representing individuals and businesses in a broad array of legal issues and cases. He also maintained an active practice in the federal courts before becoming a judge and it is one of his experiences in federal court that will be the topic of his presentation.

Dan was a member of the Rotary Club of Kalispell Daybreak and served as club president in 2009-10, and he has been active in other public service organizations, including the Boys & Girls Club of Glacier Country. Like other Montanans, he enjoys Montana’s great public lands and waters opportunities through hiking, biking, boating, fly fishing, and hunting.
