Craig Mettler, principal of C. S. Porter Middle School in Missoula, didn’t hesitate to praise the sixth, seventh and eighth graders attending Rotary Club of Missoula last week. Eight students were honored with the All-Around Leadership Awards for their grades.

The awards are given out monthly for leadership in a specific category. The All-Around Leadership Awards presented at the end of the school year cover all categories of leadership.

Some of the students seemed slightly embarrassed, as is often the case with young teens. After all, when your school principal reads so many outstanding words about you in front of all those people, it can cause a few butterflies in your stomach.

Many proud parents were present to watch their kids receive the awards. Honorees posed for a group photo at the end of the meeting.

Our Rotary club members congratulate all the students who were honored. They are, as Bill Schwanke has reminded us, our future community leaders and future Rotarians.
